What is technical editing? Put simply, it’s making certain that written text is technically accurate.
In my case, it’s making sure your readers and customers can successfully – and enjoyably – make your sewn project from the instructions provided.
That includes:
-editing step-by-step instructions
-checking accuracy of all math required, in a consistent manner, to verify cut sizes and quantities, finished sizes, yardage requirements, etc
-coordinating and correcting necessary how-to illustrations and photos
-communicating with graphic designers to ensure page design and layout enhances the readers’ understanding of the instructions
-assessing and editing to sewing skill level of intended reader/customer
